Over the years of cycling I have learned so much about from simply riding, training and racing. Yes it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears! My years of cycling began around 1992 when mountain biking was still a new sport. There were no organizations certifying folks to instruct the basic fundamentals of mountain biking! Needless to say, I learned the hard way and I have the tattoos aka scars to prove those efforts. In 2012 I got IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association) Level II certified to be an instructor. Thus my true passion of Paying it Forward to other new mountain bikers began.
Our future in anything in life depends on the younger generations to see it thru to the next generation. For me, working with kids middle and high school ages has always inspired me. My friends teenagers looked up to me because I knew how to shred on a mountain bike!!! Since they were interested I would encourage them that they too could shred with a little instruction.
In 2014 Eddy Frier our then Alabama NICA league director contacted me to help start the Alabama league! To date I have taught numerous kids and adults the basic fundamentals of mountain biking as well as how to race. You know you are a great instructor when your student surpasses the master!!
Please make sure to watch my recent video of a recent training ride with my team the Randolph Raiders. These kids are our future!! #MOREKIDSONBIKES
